Why is the tournament called "Hokuto-ki"?

Master Azuma, founder of Daidojuku, named this tournament after the connection between the north pole star and the great bear. "Hokuto" comes from the Japanese word "Hokuto Sitisei" which can be translated into English as "The Great Bear"or "the Big Dipper". It is well known that "the Big Dipper" points directly to the fixed, unmovingly north pole star. If we consider the north pole star to represent one and only highest truth which we cannot easily obtain, this is a metaphor of what master Azuma considers to be the meaning behind the rules of the Hokuto-ki tournament. Like the big dipper, the rules of the truth that we strive to attain through our training and competetion.
